Music files are one of the most common downloads. If you want to search for your favorite music files do the following steps:
Step 1: click on the “music” link that appears on the main page of thePirateBay. You will be prompted to a page that lists in an alphabetic manner different music styles. For example, under the “A” label, you will find: alternative, alternative rock, American, ambient, and acoustic. There are also other useful time-based options, such as 00s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Step 2: select the music style that best relates to your favorite songs. You will now be prompted to a page containing the names of different bands and singers ordered in an alphabetical manner. Select the one that you prefer. You will be directed to a page that contains the files for your selected band / singer. Each link also contains information related to the upload date, file size and the user name of the person that uploaded the file. Although the username may not give information about the real person, it may identify a popular contributor, whose torrents are reliable.
Step 3: select the song that you like. You will be prompted to a page containing the torrent links for such a song. Click on “GET THIS TORRENT”. You will be asked to select a torrent software, such as BitLord. Select your application and download your favorite song.
Alternatively, if you are looking for a specific song, you can use the general search based on keywords, and select the audio type.
Note: if you don’t have a torrent application installed on your machine, just google for one. A very popular one is BitLord. Google “BitLord download” and follow the guidelines.
The “Top 100” torrents are those ones that have been most lately searched. They can be accessed by clicking on the “Top 100” link available on the main page of the Pirate Bay’s page. If you want to access them, do the following:
Step 1: click on the “Top 100” link. You will then be prompted to a page containing different categories, such as Audio, Video, Applications, Games, Porn and Other. Each category has several subcategories. For example, Video is subdivided into Movies, Movies DVDR, Movie Clips, TV Shows, 3D and more.
Step 2: click on the subcategory that you prefer. It will prompt you to a page with a list of all torrents available on the PirateBay under that classification. For example, if you selected “Movies”, you could find movie titles such as Titanic, Frozen, Maleficient and more. This list shows the most recently popular movie titles. Each torrent record contains the movie title, the year that this movie was launched, the size of the file and who uploaded it. This reference is very useful, as for example, large files take longer to download. Besides, it can also indicate a well-known user, who usually uploads movies of good quality.
Step 3: select one of the torrents on the list. You will be see a page containing information on this file, such as size, formats, comments etc. Usually the information available depends on who uploaded the file. Some contributors leave more information, others less. Take a look at the comments, as they may have tips about the quality of the file. Also check the amount of seeders. More seeders is better, as the probability of getting a file infected with malware is lower, and the downloading speed is higher.
Step 4: click on “GET THIS TORRENT”. You will be asked to open a torrent application, such as BitLord. Select the one that you have on your machine and start downloading your file.
The PirateBay stores magnets and torrents related to a diversity of material types, such as audio, video and e-books. Besides, it classifies them into several categories such as audio, video and other. Thus, if you want to search for everything related to certain keyword(s), do the following:
Step 1: insert the keywords that best describe your search, and tick the “All” option available on the Pirate Bay’s page. Click on the “Pirate Search” button. You will see a list of torrents of all types available, which are related to your keyword(s).
For example, if you use the keywords “Freddie Mercury”, you will find a list that includes e-books, audio files, videos and more. However, remember that uploads are not audited. Thus, sometimes users include popular keywords in unrelated material, such as porn. Don’t worry, continue with the search, and select the torrent that most appeals to you.
Step 2: once you are on the page of the selected torrent, take time to read the comments left by the uploader and downloaders. For example, if you select the “Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe – Barcelona (Special Edit)” torrent you will see that a user left the comment “Quite splendid”, and that the uploader wrote a list of all the songs included in the torrent.
Step 3: if you are satisfied with the content of the torrent, click on the “GET THIS TORRENT”, select the torrent app and proceed with the download. Once the file is on your computer, it is always a good idea to check it for viruses and evaluate the quality of the content. It is not unusual that movies or songs are not in very good condition.
BayStream is a project, apparently authored by the Pirate Bay, aimed at sharing content in a different manner: streaming. So how does this work, and what are its advantages? Is this legal?
There are still more questions than answers about this project, and finding the correct response is difficult. Basically, the idea behind this is that instead of downloading a file – for example a movie – and later on watching it on your computer, you receive the file via streaming technology and watch it. It is similar to what many paid services, such as Netflix offer. The difference is that the BayStream’s service is free of charge.
If you want to try this service, do the following steps:
Step 1: go to the BayStream web site available at https://baystream.co/ You will be prompted to a screen explaining that the maximum size of a file accepted is 20 GB. You will also see a button with the label “Choose file(s)”.
Step 2: click on this button, and select the file you want to share. The file will be uploaded and you can follow the process via a progress bar.
Step3: once the upload is done, you will be shown an URL for the file, which you can copy and share.
Step 4: if you want watch the video, you need to call the URL from the browser. You will see the video, but this time via streaming.
Some words of advice. It is not clear if this technology is legal or not when applied to copyrighted material. Some say that although the file is not fully on your computer, you are still using it without paying, and therefore it is illegal.
Will this way grow and make file share easier? Only time will tell.
